New 'Camp Gyno' ad goes for period power

SEATTLE -- A new advertisement making the rounds on the internet promotes a product making sure "your daughter is prepared for her first period." 

The Period Starter Kit comes with tampons, pads and candy. But, while the ad is quickly making its viral rounds, it's not what's in the box that's garnering attention. It's the wording in the ad. 

Instead of time-worn terminology like "time of the month" or "natural cycle," the ad refuses to parse words. 

"To these campers I was their Joan of Arc," the tween girl in the ad proclaims. "It's like I'm Joan and their vag is the arc." 

Some are critical of the frankness and candor in which the advertisement discusses a female's first period. But most, on YouTube anyway, are supportive of the wording.  

"This is fantastic," YouTube user Eblevens explains.
