Pack of dogs attack White Center man
SEATTLE -- A 66-year-old man had to literally fight for his life after three dogs attacked him early Wednesday in White Center, the King County Sheriff's Office said.
The three dogs, including a pit bull and a bull mastiff, bit the man all over his body, the sheriff's office said. The man was attacked as he was walking in the 10200 block of 18th Avenue Southwest about 12:15 a.m.
The man reportedly pulled out his pocket knife to defend himself, injuring at least one of the dogs, Seattlepi.com reported. Fortunately, some passersby saw the attack and called 911. Deputies were able to catch the dogs by following bloody paw prints and with the sheriff's helicopter that was equipped with heat sensors, Seattlepi.com reported.
Medics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center, where he is currently in satisfactory condition.
The dog wounded by the injured man had to be euthanized, and the two other dogs are being evaluated to see if they have rabies before authorities decide if they will be returned to their owner. The Regional Animal Services of King County will determine if the dogs were properly licensed and vaccinated.
