KENT, Wash. - A 27-year-old man was arrested and accused of second-degree murder and unlawful gun possession after the murder of a man at a Kent apartment complex in late March.
A man was shot and killed on the morning of March 30th in the stairwell of the first and second floor of Mosaic Hills apartments in Kent, police said.
Several calls to police were made after a verbal confrontation reportedly coming from one of the apartment units of the Kent complex. A man shot the victim in the chest. Witnesses told police the suspect took off on foot and that the suspect and victim knew each other.

Surveillance footage shows the man accused of killing the victim leaving the apartment complex to let a dog out to relieve itself prior to the shooting. The same dog was also found inside the apartment unit of the woman associated with the suspect. Video also shows the man drop an object what looks like a gun and pick it up. Later the same man could be seen in the video running from the area of the shooting.
Detectives later acquired a search warrant and searched the man’s vehicle. They found documents with the man’s identity and were able to track him down and arrest him at his mother’s apartment in Renton. Detectives found the man to be armed and dangerous and subject to a domestic violence no-contact order, prohibiting him from possessing firearms.
According to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the man is being held in jail on a $3 million bail.
