Politicians react swiftly to Boeing machinists' vote

OLYMPIA - From Governor Jay Inslee, to King County Executive Dow Constantine, the reactions by Washington politicians were swift to the Boeing Machinists contract approval vote. Late Friday night Governor Inslee said, “Tonight, Washington state secured its future as the aerospace capital of the world. To make that happen, the International Association of Machinists District 751 took a hard vote that demands the respect of all Washingtonians who will benefit from having Boeing build the 777X here."

Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson: " With their vote today, Boeing workers preserved Washington’s place at the forefront of the aerospace industry. We are honored to be the home of the best airplane builders in the world, and we look forward to this exciting new chapter for Boeing and Everett."

Senator Patty Murray: "“I know well this decision wasn’t easy for any of the Machinists or their families, and I know that many of those men and women decided Boeing’s latest offer was still unacceptable. Their concerns about income and retirement security for current and future generations of aerospace workers – and all American workers – are legitimate."

King County Executive Dow Constantine: ""Boeing workers build the best airplanes in the world. Tonight they have made the difficult decision to sacrifice in order to help ensure that the Puget Sound region will be home to the 777X, including the composite wing technology that will enable us to keep leading the world in advanced manufacturing."
