Possible measles exposure at University District restaurant
SEATTLE -- A child who was exposed to measles while traveling in Europe may have brought the illness to a University District restaurant last week, the Seattle Times reports.
According to the Times, a child with possible media exposure was briefly at Aladdin Gyrocery in the 4100 block University Way NE from 1 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. Aug. 18. The child was traveling to Oregon for a junior tennis tournament last week, and briefly made the stop at the local restaurant.
The general public is at a low risk for measles because most people are immune or have received vaccine, the Times said. However, the King County Health Department recommended anyone at the restaurant during the exposure period confirm their vaccination, and call a doctor if they develop an unexplained rash between Aug. 25 and Sept. 8.
