Storm's early winds knock out power for thousands in the North Sound
MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – High winds caused power outages across Skagit County Thursday night.
Wind advisories in the North Sound are slated to last over 24 hours.
At one point, more than 3,700 Puget Sound Energy customers from Bellingham to Snoqualmie to Olympia were without power.
PSE crews worked to restore outages as they happened.
According to the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday night, there haven’t been any reports of significant damage yet.
In downtown Mount Vernon, you could see high winds bounce power lines as steady rain poured down.
“I guess we'll just hunker down at home if we have to and do whatever needs to be done,” Brandon Starkovich said looking out at the rain.
Some people decided to buy groceries.
“I have water, blankets and extra batteries and everything at home,” Lucy Berger explained.
PSE say’s Lucy’s preparations are exactly what every one of their customers’ needs to do, too.
