U.S. cities more mean than nice?

NEW YORK – Travelers have ranked the friendliest and unfriendliest cities in the world. Many of the cities featured in the Top 10 were small to mid-sized destinations, and Seattle is nowhere to be found on either list.
Florianopolis in Brazil has the friendliest faces per capita, followed by Hobart, Tasmania. Thimpu and Bhutan in the Himalayas came in third, followed by Queenstown, New Zealand. Charleston, S.C., is the only city in the United States making the “Top Five Friendliest” list.
Newark, N.J., was named the world’s unfriendliest city. Readers say the only reason to visit was for a cheap stopover on the way to somewhere better. Islamabad, Pakistan was second, followed by Oakland, Calif. Luanda, Angola and Kuwait City round out the Top 5.
