Tens of thousands of people were left in the dark after a major storm moved through the Pacific Northwest, and crews continue to assess damages from the weekend’s storm. 

A falling tree crushed a car and killed two people near Preston according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

The Weather Alert Day remains in effect as high winds and seas continue to be a threat. The system is weakening as it approaches British Columbia at this hour but will continue to pack a punch. The gusty winds, widespread rain, thunderstorms, and high surf will remain in our forecast tonight.

Winds picked up in eastern King and Pierce counties this morning sending trees and large tree limbs down. At last check over 40,000 Puget Sound Energy customers were without power.

Are you ready for blustery conditions around the region! If it hasn't felt like Fall to you yet, this weekend should fix that feeling for sure! We're looking at heavy rain and strong winds pushing through the area Sunday into Monday. This all thanks to a record deep low pressure system. 

Rain, wind and lowering snow levels are forecasted for the weekend into next week.  Sure, we'll have some breaks in between, but it will be very sloppy at times. 

Rain showers will continue off and on through Friday afternoon, but all eyes are on Sunday as a strong storm approaches the coast.

A series of systems will keep bringing wet weather into next week.
