Forecasters say Northwest haze is from Siberian wildfires (PHOTOS)

SEATTLE -- The National Weather Service says wildfires in Siberia are to blame for haze hanging over much of the Pacific Northwest, giving sunsets a red hue.

Forecasters expect the smoke to dissipate Monday, which is expected to be another warm and sunny day.

Large fires burning in Khakassia, a region in southeastern Siberia, were started by farmers burning the grass in their fields. They spread out of control because of strong winds, killing more than a dozen people and destroying hundreds of homes.
