BELLEVUE, Wash. - Police arrested an 18-year-old person of interest just a day after a deadly shooting in the parking lot of an AMC theater in Bellevue.
The shooting occurred in the west parking lot around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, near Factoria Boulevard.
Police say two people were in the parking lot. One of the two men shot the other man, who is believed to be in his 20s. The suspect fired one round of a shotgun.
Police say the suspect remained on scene until they arrived, however, he was able to drive away in a silver car, which has damage to the front of it.
The gunshot victim was taken to the hospital, but officials said he died.
The gun was not found.
People inside the theater tell Q13 News they were notified of the incident while watching their movies and asked not to leave the theater.
"You see it on TV and you never think it’s going to happen right next to you. Then someone goes into the movie theater and they’re like, ‘hey you have to stay in there until we tell you so.’ So, it’s scary and it’s disappointing," said Jorgina Rios who was inside the theater when the shooting happened.
This is the second fatal shooting in Bellevue in less than a week.
"We want to make sure that things stay safe here in Bellevue. We have a good track record of keeping crime down, and we want that to continue, right. So, it’s concerning and we’re going to do the best we can to figure out who this guy is," said Captain Darryl McKinney with Bellevue Police.
Police ask anyone with information to contact them.
