2 arrested after explosives found in car at hospital, home

BREMERTON -- A 43-year-old Poulsbo woman was arrested Thursday morning in Bremerton after her car was spotted in the parking lot of the Harrison Medical Center carrying an explosive device. A second suspect was arrested by Poulsbo police later Thursday.

The neighborhood around the woman's home in the 1800 block of Lincoln Avenue in Poulsbo was also evacuated after police said the woman admitted to possibly having more explosives in her home. Bomb Squad investigators and Washington State Patrol troopers were en route to the home at 11:42 a.m., officials said.

An unknown number of residents were evacuated from the area. The woman was booked into Kitsap County Jail on $100,000 bail.

Police said an object similar to dynamite was spotted in her car, and police were called. The scene was cleared after the object was determined not to be a threat.  Officers located the owner of the car in the ER and arrested her for carrying explosive devices.

Poulsbo Police Cheif Al Townsend said there was no threat to schools in the area of the woman's residence.

Townsend said later Thursday that the second suspect arrested -- a 42-year-old felon -- was the bomb maker.  No other information was immediately available.
