5% toll increase proposed for State Route 520 bridge this year, another 5% hike in 2017
OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Washington State Transportation Commission has proposed increasing the weekday and weekend tolls on the State Route 520 Bridge by 5% this July 1 and another 5% on July 1, 2017.
In real dollar terms, it said, the annual increases would equate to an increase of 20 cents a year during weekday peak periods.
So, the current weekday peak period rate would go from $3.90 to $4.10 in 2016 and to $4.30 in 2017.
Tolling during the nighttime (11 p.m. - 5 a.m.) would begin on July 1, 2017. It would be a flat rate of $1.25 during these hours.
The proposal was announced during the commission's hearing last Friday.
