55-year-old man taken to hospital after road rage shooting in Kent
KENT, Wash. — A man was taken to a hospital Monday morning after a road rage altercation led to a shooting in Kent.
According to Kent Police, officers responded about 7:25 a.m. to an ARCO gas station in the 21200 block of 84th Avenue North, where a 55-year-old man said he had been shot in the leg after a road rage altercation.
He was stabilized at the scene and taken to Harborview Medical Center.
Investigators learned that the shooting was related to a road rage incident and that the suspect fled northbound in a sedan. The make and model are unknown.
ARCO customers said the situation was very concerning.
“It does make me nervous. I’ve got kids and stuff that I drive around. So, I mean what if that happened to me and I had my kids in the car, you know?” said Ashley Meyers, a frequent ARCO customer.
Assistant Police Chief Jarod Kasner said the two drivers did not know each other. Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from ARCO and surrounding businesses to help identify the suspect and vehicle.
ARCO store clerk Melissa Farley said she was startled to see the commotion outside of the store.
“I saw one cop car pull in. Saw a bunch more come and a bunch more just surrounding. And they were all in my parking lot and then ambulances paramedics, fire truck. I’m like, what the heck’s going on?” said Farley.
The clerk said she didn’t hear anything before first responders arrived, but mentioned one of her customers was near the scene.
“He said he heard a ‘pop pop’ sound like gunshots and I guess the semi-truck driver got hit,” said Farley.
