Fairytale ending for Cinderella Ball in Tacoma
TACOMA -- It’s a Cinderella story celebrating people of all ability levels. More than 100 people came out Saturday night at the Tacoma Yacht Club for the 2nd annual Cinderella Ball.
It’s an event that helps local disabled people get the full prom experience. Each person is paired with an escort like a Daffodil princess, police officer or Navy sailor to help them make the most of their dance.
“They will talk about this for months ahead of time. It’s really important because it makes them feel special,” said Metro Parks Tacoma Recreation Specialist Heather Reddington.
All of the dresses and tuxedos were donated. The Tacoma Yacht Club and Tacoma Metro Parks helped organize event.
"The participants of the Cinderella Ball are wonderful individuals. With all the effort it takes to put this event on, we get far more from them then we give. Many of the volunteers have stated, 'this is the best thing they have ever been a part of!' said co-chair of Tacoma Yacht Club Outreach Bill Foulk who hand built the Cinderella carriage used for photos.
