Gasoline prices fall to 2011 levels

SEATTLE -- Motorists around the nation and here in the Puget Sound area are enjoying the lowest gasoline prices since February 2011.  The website GasBuddy.com reports that average retail gasoline prices in Seattle have fallen 4.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.32/gallon.

GasBuddy.com does a daily survey of 775 gas outlets in Seattle. Including the change in gas prices in Seattle during the past week, prices are 26.2 center per gallon lower than the same day one year ago; they're 25.9 cents per gallon lower than one year ago.

"Gas prices across many communities are now the lowest since they've been since the Libyan crisis in February of 2011.

Nearly 15% of all stations in the U.S. are now selling gasoline under the psychologically important $3/gallon level," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.
