Interview: Privacy concerns abound with waterfront cameras
SEATTLE -- Seattle city officials are seeking public input on a newly installed network of surveillance cameras perched along the waterfront. The cameras stretch from West Seattle to Golden Gardens Park.
City officials said the network is not yet operational but once it's activated it will be used to help officers respond to emergencies, monitor the Port of Seattle for security purposes and potentially aid detectives in the event of a crime.
Citizens were able to voice their concerns about the cameras at the first of two public meetings on Tuesday.
Matt Fiske, a reporter with Seattle news website crosscut.com, recently posted an in-depth article on the cameras.
