Melissa & Doug is recalling about 84,000 Lights & Sounds Fire Truck Activity Boards because a small plastic port designed to look like a fire hose can come loose and detach from the toy, posing a choking hazard to young children.
The recall was announced Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product and Safety Commission (CPSC).

According to the recall notice, the popular kid’s toy company received 26 reports of the small port coming loose, including one report of a minor cut.
The recalled toy is a compact red plastic fire engine with four black wheels and a white rotating ladder. It features various activity-board components that activate lights and sounds. The toy also has a black plastic connector that resembles a fire hose.
The recalled product measures about 10.5 inches high by 14.31 inches wide by 3.06 inches deep and weighs about 1.6 pounds.

Consumers can identify affected units by the date wheels located on the bottom of the toy.
Affected units have arrows pointing to the number 25 and either 4 or 5, or to the number 26 and 3. The packaging also has one of three date codes: OET 25100, OET 25150 or OET 26064.
The toys were sold at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com from July 2025 through August 2026 for about $30.

To receive a remedy, consumers should register through the company's recall website. They will be instructed to remove the batteries, write the word "RECALL" and a unique code on the front of the toy provided during the registration process, and cut off the black hose from the toy. Consumers must then upload a photograph of the destroyed product to the registration page. After registration is confirmed, the company says the toy should be disposed of in their ordinary household trash.
