RV stolen from Auburn couple recovered, 2 men charged with theft
TACOMA, Wash. - Two men accused of stealing an RV that was parked outside a gas station in Tacoma have been charged with theft.
Prosecutors say David Anello and Jason Frack stole the trailer on Thanksgiving from a gas station on 64th and Pacific, then eventually abandoned it before it was sent to an impound lot.
Frack was arraigned on December 19 and Anello is set to be arraigned on January 16.
The trailer was returned to Rosie and Scott Butcher, but the owners say it was heavily damaged, leaving them to temporarily stay with family in Tacoma.
"I had a bunch of my dad's high school yearbooks, my pet's ashes", said Rosie. "It's like they steal your life away. Your memories. I don't like to look at it anymore because I break down crying."
The Butchers don't know when they can live in their trailer again, but say an online fundraiser has been set up to help them as they work to get back on their feet.
"Try to help as much as we can, filling out job application after job application", said Rosie. "I'm trying to get this store pretty enough to open it up."
When the victims first reached out to FOX 13 after the RV was stolen, detectives from the Puget Sound Auto Theft Task Force located it at the tow yard, and were even kind enough to pay the impound fee to get it back.
It didn't take long for detectives to identify the suspects, as Anello has a reputation for auto thefts. He's known on the streets as "New York Dave" and "Spanaway Dave."
Anello has been arrested 52 times and has more than 20 felony convictions. He was arrested back in 2019 and hasn't been out long.
If Anello doesn't show up to court for his arraignment next week, a warrant will be issued for his arrest.
