Two young girls hit, seriously injured by car while crossing street in south Seattle
SEATTLE -- A 10-year-old girl and a 9-year-old girl were hit by a car Thursday afternoon in south Seattle and seriously injured.
According to Seattle police, a car struck the girls at about 1 p.m. when they were crossing the road at the intersection of Rainier Avenue South and South Henderson Street in the Rainier Beach neighborhood.
"The driver stopped and was interviewed by police," a news release said.
Seattle Fire Department medics provided emergency care and then rushed the girls to Harborview Medical Center.
Police said the 10-year-old girl's condition was life-threatening; the 9-year-old girl's condition is serious, but not life-threatening.
Police have not provided details about the circumstances involving the accident.
The incident remains under investigation.
