Adam Gehrke
Adam Gehrke is the Traffic Anchor at FOX 13 and a part of Good Day Seattle from 5 to 9 a.m.
Adam is a Seattle native and graduate of the University of Puget Sound, Go Loggers; although, when pressed to choose between WSU and UW in newsroom bets, he leans UW as he was raised on the UW campus, so much for academic neutrality.
Adam got his start in broadcasting at the peak of the Seattle Grunge explosion in High school as an intern for local radio station 99.9 KISW; and, several years later he would become the host of the legendary specialty show Metal Shop.
Around the same time and fresh out of college Adam was overheard delivering stock reports on a local business talk radio station and practically hired on the spot to become a traffic reporter. The rest you could say is history. With several years of radio traffic reporting under his belt on just about every station in town, sometimes working from a plane or helicopter, his insatiable hunger for news was wetted. And, as legend has it, the day before interviewing at FOX 13 Adam cut his shoulder length rocker hair and never looked back. He’s been with the station since 2002, which makes him the senior most on-air personality at the station.
Adam is also an avid film critic and enthusiast. You can catch Adam At The Movies as a regular part of Good Day Seattle on most Fridays. He has also worked as a producer, actor, film composer and audio designer on multiple indie film projects. More recently, he has been working to produce a line of boutique tube amplifiers under the name Emerald City Amps, and in what sliver of left over free time he has, repairs old wooden boats.
