US-Canada border towns assess damage from devastating floods

Residents of Sumas were assessing damage from flooding that hit an estimated 75% of homes, as Washington and British Columbia tried to dry out from an intense, days-long rain storm that cut off key roadways and forced hundreds of evacuations.

Ferndale community wades through flood, emotions

Many communities began drying out in the North Sound by Tuesday but others worried the worst of the flooding was still to come. Ferndale city leaders warned homeowners and businesses to voluntarily vacate a section of town in case the Nooksack River burst through a levee. 

Northbound lanes on I-5 at Nulle Road reopen

Crews are working to clear the roadway after authorities had to shut down Interstate 5 in Bellingham through at least Tuesday morning due to "flooding and active slides."
