"I swear officer -- the drugs aren't mine"

Q: If I'm in a car that police find drugs in that are not mine, can I still get in trouble? -- ClayA: If there is something in a car that's not actually attached or connected to someone in the car, like in their pocket or in their hand, it is up to the police and prosecutor to show why it's in their possession, and why they're in control of it. So in other words, the burden of proof is on the police and the prosecutor. So, not a simple answer but the fact is it's something the prosecutor will have to show in the course of a trial." -- Bremerton Police Chief Steve Strachan
