Seattle weather: Rain/snow mix, cold weather on horizon

SEATTLE - Some neighborhoods in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties woke up to light snow Saturday morning. A rain/snow mix is also possible this afternoon and tonight.
Additional snow accumulations in the lowlands are unlikely, but even if there’s a brief coating on the ground, it would melt quickly before refreezing overnight.

Highs will be frigid this afternoon, only reaching the upper 30s to low 40s under cloudy skies.
Highs will reach either side of 40 degrees in the greater Seattle area. (FOX 13 Seattle)
Be cautious on sidewalks, driveways, bridges and overpasses tonight and tomorrow morning – ice could be a problem.
There may be lingering moisture and low-hanging clouds and freezing fog Sunday morning. Where this happens, lowered visibility and slick spots could be treacherous. Once the clouds lift, plentiful sunshine is forecast for Sunday afternoon.
We’ll enjoy three consecutive days of gorgeous sunshine Monday through Wednesday. However, temperatures will be frozen – plunging to the low 20s during the overnight hours in the Seattle area. Some of the outlying areas could wind up even colder!
Thursday and Friday (Valentine’s Day!) will be cloudier. A rain/snow mix could return. It’s difficult right now to pinpoint potential impacts. Stick with us for details in the coming days.
