1 killed, 2 hurt in crash after carjacking
TACOMA, Wash. -- Authorities say a woman was killed and two men were critically injured when the stolen vehicle they were in crashed during a pursuit by Tacoma police.
Tacoma Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool told The News Tribune the vehicle, a 2004 GMC pickup truck, was taken in a Lakewood carjacking.
Cool said the crash happened about 1:40 a.m. Sunday when the truck struck a utility pole near 64th Street and Waller Road East.
All three people in the vehicle appeared to be in their 20s.
Officials said the suspects were driving recklessly with their headlights off in an effort to flee.
