13-year-old boy drowns near Eatonville

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. -  Search and rescue teams in Pierce County recovered the body of a 13-year-old boy that jumped into the water this afternoon.

Sgt. Jerry Bates with the Pierce County Sheriff's office says witnesses saw the boy jump into the water at the Little Mashel Falls just after 5:00 p.m..

A swift water rescue team was dispatched to the scene and after an hour of searching recovere the boy's body.

They tried to resuscitate him on scene, but had no success. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bates said the temperature of the water would be apart of their investigation.
