19-year-old allegedly waving chainsaw at people is shot dead
TACOMA -- A 19-year-old man who was ordering his father's girlfriend out of his mobile home and allegedly threatening her and her adult son with a chainsaw if they did not leave the property was shot and killed Monday night by the woman's son, authorities said Tuesday.
But the shooter was not arrested because it appeared to be self-defense, Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer.
Troyer added that the case will be turned over to the Pierce County Prosecutor's Office.
He said the trouble started at about 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 16800 block of 82nd Street NW in the town of Vaughn, on the Key Peninsula. The victim was ordering his father's girlfriend and her 27-year-old son to leave their property.
When the woman refused, the victim allegedly started the chainsaw, began waving it around and made threats about cutting people.
The woman's son shot the 19-year-old dead with one shot to the head, Troyer said.
