2 men shot, wounded after Bellingham car chase
BELLINGHAM -- Police shot and wounded two men who allegedly robbed a Bellingham gas station Thursday and then led cops on a car chase up Mount Baker Highway while one fired back at the officers with a shotgun, the Bellingham Herald reported.
The incident began when two men robbed at gas station at 4240 Meridian St. at gunpoint and then fled in a purple Honda, the Herald said, citing police radio traffic.
Police spotted the car, and a chase began up Mount Baker Highway. As the car reached Everson Goshen Road, the fleeing men began firing a shotgun at the chasing officers, the Herald said.
The Honda crashed, but one of the men continued firing the shotgun at officers. Police returned fire, wounding both men. No officers were hit.
One of the alleged robbers suffered multiple gunshots and was in critical condition. The other had a flesh wound in the arm, the Herald said.
