2 young children killed when SUV crashes through Reno home
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Two young children were killed when an SUV crashed through a house in Reno, Nevada.
Police spokesman Tim Broadway says a 2-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl were inside the home when the SUV crashed through it and into the backyard shortly after noon Monday a mile south of downtown.
Broadway says the 66-year-old male driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries and is cooperating with investigators.
He says the victims' mother and a teenage relative also were in the residence at the time but escaped injury.
The wreck remains under investigation. Broadway says it appears the driver was speeding and failed to stop at an intersection before hitting the house. He says it doesn't appear drugs or alcohol were involved.
