4-year-old Issaquah boy struck by car while walking in crosswalk, in critical condition

ISSAQUAH, Wash. -- A 4-year-old boy was struck by a car and critically injured Friday while walking with his mom in a crosswalk in Issaquah, officials said.

The accident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. as the boy and his mother crossed westbound Newport Way NW at NW Oakcrest Drive, a statement issued by the city of Issaquah said.

The boy was walking a few steps ahead of his mother, who was pushing his bike behind him, the statement said.

The boy was rushed to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a 67-year-old Klahanie woman, immediately stopped and cooperated with Issaquah police during the investigation, the city said. There is no indication that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident. it added.

The investigation is continuing, the city said.
