7 men arrested in prostitution sting operation

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) — The Kitsap County Sheriff's office says seven men are under arrest on charges that they were soliciting prostitution.

The men, who range in age from 18 to 63 years old, were picked up Wednesday night during a sting operation in Port Orchard.

The operation began with an advertisement on the website Backpage.com. It ended with an undercover detective meeting the so-called "John."

The men were booked into the Kitsap County Jail and bail was set for $10,000. They were scheduled to make their initial court appearances on Thursday afternoon.

Detective Lieutenant Earl Smith says they plan to conduct similar operations in the future in their battle against human trafficking.
