7-year-old girl in critical condition after near-drowning in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- A 7-year-old girl was found at the bottom of a swimming pool Monday night at the Legacy Park Apartments. A resident pulled her out and performed CPR until medics arrived, West Pierce Fire said.

Medics transported the girl to the hospital, where she was in critical condition, West Pierce Fire said.

The incident occurred at about 7:20 p.m. Monday at 3502 92nd Street South in Lakewood.

A West Pierce Fire spokeswoman said the girl's swimming ability was unknown or why she ended up on the bottom of the pool. The apartment complex's pool was crowded to the warm weather, the spokeswoman said.
