Air China, Cathay Pacific order more than 30 Boeing jets

SEATTLE -- Boeing has secured new orders for its 747 Freighter jet, with Air China agreeing to purchase two 747's, one 777 and 20 Next-Generation 737's.

Air China Cargo has also ordered eight 777 jets.

According to Boeing, the airline is planning to expand operations in Asia-Pacific and China. Boeing officials said the agreement still needs approval by the Chinese government.

Boeing also announced a purchase order for three 747 Freighter jets with Cathay Pacific Airways, and the order includes options for five additional 777 planes. Cathay Pacific currently operates eight 747 Freighters.

Boeing placed the value of the orders at $1 billion.
