Around 10 brush fires burning on Whidbey Island

WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash. -- WSP officials say upwards of ten brush fires were burning on Whidbey Island Friday.

Authorities said the fires were along SR 525 near Scott Road. Crews shut down SR 525 from milepost 16 to 18 for hours. It was reopened at about 4:30 p.m.

According to the Island County Sheriff's Office, the fire is moving toward some homes and crews have already evacuated several homes.

As of 2 p.m., officials said no homes had burned. They did not have information about the cause of the fire.
