Attorney pleads guilty to child porn charges
SEATTLE -- A family law attorney who once practiced in Kent pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to producing and possessing child pornography.
David Scott Engle, 49, of Maple Valley, was arrested in November and has been locked up since then. Authorities say he volunteered in and ran a business involving youth baseball in Maple Valley.
He faces a mandatory minimum prison term of 15 years, when he’s sentenced by U.S. District Judge James Robart in October.
According to records filed in the case, Engle came to the attention of law enforcement as they were investigating an international movie production company that operated a website offering DVDs and streaming videos. The materials showed young boys in sexually explicit activity.
They say between 2005 and 2011, Engle bought 184 different items from the website.
The company and the owners of the company are also being prosecuted for child exploitation offenses, including the production and distribution of child pornography.
After a search warrant of Engle’s home and storage locker, investigators say they found more than 500 videos of him sexually molesting a young boy under the age of 16. Later they say they found evidence of him sexually molesting another young boy. He’s being separately prosecuted for those offenses by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
