SEATTLE -- First responders rescued a woman whose leg was injured by a boat propeller Sunday afternoon on Lake Washington.

The U.S. Coast Guard was notified around 2:15 p.m. that a 19-year-old woman had fallen off of a boat and suffered a severe leg injury. They already had a response boat on the lake and dispatched it to the location of the accident.

Two medics from a nearby boat witnessed the accident and provided aid until authorities arrived.

The Coast Guard helped stabilize the woman, and the Seattle Fire and Police Departments transported her to medics on shore.

The boat was towed to a nearby marina.

The Coast Guard says cause of the incident is still under investigation.
