AWESOME: Jilted groom turns cancelled wedding into charity event

PITTSBURGH, Penn. -- A would-be groom turned his planned reception into a charity event, deciding to help others instead of dwell on what was no longer, KTLA reported.

Phil Laboon's engagement was ended recently, but rather than cancel the reception, he decided to "turn the lemons that I got" into a charity fundraiser -- which he called LemonAID.

Laboon's event went viral, and he received more than 8,00 ticket requests and donation pledges for Surgicorps International, a non profit that provides free surgical and medical care to disadvantaged people in developing countries.
