Barbecue to blame for Mountlake Terrace fire

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE - A barbecue is to blame for a fire that heavily damaged a Mountlake Terrace home Thursday night.

Fire fighters responded to the home in the 22800 block of 41st Pl. W. after receiving several 911 calls reporting flames coming from the split-entry house.

A woman, her adult son and his two sons, ages 1 and 6, were able to safely exit the burning house.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to get the fire under control.  Investigators determined the fire started in the rear of the house in the area of a barbecue that had been used earlier in the evening.

The Red Cross is assisting a total of six residents - a couple who lived on the upper floor of the home, and their son, his wife and two children, who lived in the basement.
