Big Fish Games to lay off 49 in Seattle, close other offices
SEATTLE -- Big Fish Games is making some cuts. The Seattle online gaming company is laying off 49 workers in its Seattle office, moving its Vancouver, B.C., staff to Seattle, and shuttering its Cork, Ireland, office, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal.
The company has more than 700 workers total. The newspaper reports that the Ireland office was where games were translated into multiple languages. The company says it will now offer its games in fewer languages -- just English, French, Spanish, and Japanese.
The Business Journal says Big Fish is planning to focus on its free-to-play and casino games.
