RENTON, Wash. - Investigators say a body found in the woods in September is a man who was reported missing from Renton in August.
Thurston County sheriff's deputies were called on Sept. 24 to the 2200 block of Reservation Road SE, near the North End Nisqually Tribal Center.
Deputies said at the time that it was obvious that the person had been dead for some time and had no identification.
According to the Renton Police Department, that person is Daniel Shur who was last seen on Aug. 22. He was reported missing four days later.
Police said there were no immediate indications of foul play at Shur's home but that he may have left his residence "under duress."
The medical examiner said that his body had multiple stab wounds and he died from homicidal violence.
Police said Shur was known to buy and sell vehicles often and had relationships with regional car clubs. Detectives would like to speak with anyone who was involved in a car sales transaction with Shur in the last year. They would also like to hear from anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the 2200 block of Reservation Rd. SE in Olympia between Aug. 22 and Sept. 24.
