Celebrate the maritime industry with sun, fun and chowder
SEATTLE – The Seattle waterfront will be buzzing with activity this week, as the Vigor Seattle Maritime Festival returns for five days of fun, food and education.
The event starts on Tuesday with Career Day and concludes on Saturday with the Family Fun Day. Other activities at the festival include a chowder cook-off, maritime poetry slam and tugboat races.
According to a news release, the area’s $10 billion maritime industry employs more than 17,000 people. Many of the jobs include building and repairing ships, moving people and products, bringing in fresh seafood and defending the country.
The festival is a way to celebrate the industry, officials said.
