Cities protest Pierce Transit cuts
Milton, Fife and Edgewood are banding together, hoping to stop bus service cuts. The cities adopted a joint resolution rejecting Pierce Transit's plan to reduce service starting in September, the Tacoma News Tribune reported. Cuts in those cities are part of a sweeping 28-percent transit cutback across Pierce County, the Tribune reported.
The cities are particularly concerned about affected Routes 402 and 501, which link the three areas to transit centers in Federal Way, Puyallup and downtown Tacoma, the Tribune reported.
Transit service cuts are expected to be a topic of discussion at Monday's Pierce Transit Board meeting at 4 p.m. in the Pierce Transit Training Center, Building 5, Rainier Conference Room at 3720 96th St. SW, Lakewood.
