Cops shoot at fleeing driver who allegedly crashed into police car
KENT -- Police shot at a man who allegedly drove at police late Thursday night in Kent.
Officers responded to calls of a suspicious vehicle around 11:50 Thursday night in the 19400 block of the East Valley Highway. Upon responding, the vehicle's driver, a 32-year-old man from Seattle, noticed the police and allegedly attempted to flee the area by driving at officers and crashing into their vehicle.
Feeling threatened, police shot at the suspect's vehicle and he crashed into a group of trees, ending the quick chase.
The suspect was not shot, but treated at the scene for minor injuries sustained in the collision, police said. He was booked into jail. Two others in the vehicle at the time were taken into custody.
One police officer suffered minor injuries, and he was placed on administrative leave, as is routine procedure following an officer-involved shooting.
Investigators were on scene early Friday trying to piece together the chain of events, Kent police said.
