RALEIGH, North Carolina -- Could a color changing nail polish help women spot a date-rape drug before they ingest it?

That’s the question being raised by some undergrad engineering students at North Carolina State University.

The students have created a line of nail polish that changes color when it comes in contact with drugs like Xanax, Rohypnol or GHB.

The idea is that a woman wearing the polish could dip her finger in her drink and stir it around and if her polish changes color she would know someone had put something in that drink.

The students are looking for funding online to bring the polish to market.
