Couple flees after hitting parked cars, tree in police chase
SEATTLE -
Several people were injured Monday night when thieves in a stolen car fleeing from police hit another vehicle head on before careening into other cars at a high rate of speed. Police are still looking for the suspects.
A parking enforcement officer spotted stolen vehicle in North Seattle shortly before 8 p.m., but a suspect in the driver's seat took off when he realized he and a female passenger were spotted.
A Seattle police patrol unit attempted to stop the vehicle near Ravenna Place N.E. and N.E. 55th Street., but the car sped off and police ended the pursuit as per department policy. However, the suspects turned onto 25th Avenue N.E. and collided head-on with a car on the street, as well as hitting three parked cars.
The suspects continued several blocks further before hitting a street sign and a tree. The male driver and female passenger then fled on foot. Police tracked the suspects with a K-9 unit but were unable to locate the pair.
The victims in the car that was hit were taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
