Deliberations begin in murder trial of man who reported girlfriend missing
TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Jurors are to begin deliberating in the trial of a Pierce County man charged with murder in the 2014 shooting death of his fiancee.
The News Tribune reports that deliberations in William Grisso's trial begin Thursday.
The case against Grisso began in June 2014 after he reported his fiancee, 45-year-old Nancy Gardner, missing. Detectives later found the woman's body in a secluded area near Belfair with gunshot wounds.
Prosecutors had argued that Grisso killed his fiancee to be with another woman and had reported her missing to portray himself as a victim.
But Grisso's attorney said there was no direct evidence tying Grisso to the scene where Gardner's body was found.
