Deputy rescues man from house fire in Darrington

DARRINGTON - A Snohomish County Sheriff's Deputy rescued a man from a burning house fire in Darrington Wednesday night.

The deputy and Darrington Fire District 19 responded to the fire in the 800 block of Givens Avenue  just before 11 pm Wednesday, a press release reported.

When the deputy arrived at the house, there was heavy black smoke coming from inside.  The deputy entered the home and found a person on the floor and pulled him to safety, police said.

The person was breathing but not conscious.  Medics transported the man, who was then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.  The man's current condition is not know, the press release said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
