Driver accused of hitting, stabbing 17-year-old surrenders in Lake Stevens

EVERETT, Wash. -- Police announced that Alex Lamoureux, 19, who was being sought for allegedly hitting a 17-year-old with his car and then stabbing him last week, surrendered to officers at the Snohomish County Jail Tuesday night.

He was booked into jail on charges of assault with a weapon, the county sheriff's office sid.

The victim is now recovering from multiple stab wounds.

“It was all crazy and it was all fast,” says Bonnie Freeman.

She’s still trying to make sense of what happened in front of her home Friday afternoon. She says her son was hanging out with some friends, when 19-year-old Alex Lamoureux drove up and hit a 17-year-old boy with his car.

Lake Stevens Police say Lamoureux and his girlfriend then got out of the car and started fighting with the victim on the ground. They drove off, before Freeman could get outside. She and her son called 911 and checked the teen for injuries.

“We realized he had a big stab wound in his back; he didn't even know he'd been stabbed. The adrenaline was so much.”

Police say the girl with Lamoureux turned herself in. She’s underage, so police are not naming her.

On Monday afternoon, police followed a tip and found Lamoureux’s 2000 Honda Accord on Tulalip land in northern Snohomish County. But Lamoureux was nowhere to be found -- until he surrendered Tuesday.

 

Freeman said she’s not sure exactly why the teens got into a fight, but she says there’s no reason to fight with cars and knives.

“You know how kids are, they think you got to fight over your girlfriends or whatever,” she says. “But to do that? No.”
