Driver crashes car into Mukilteo strip mall



MUKILTEO, Wash. – A woman in her 50’s crashed her sedan inside a tattoo shop Tuesday afternoon along Mukilteo Speedway at 84th Street Southwest.

Witnesses said the woman careened through the parking lot and didn’t stop until the car smashed through the glass and stopped inside this tattoo shop.

Employees working at a nearby restaurant said the woman held the gas pedal was down and the tires were screeching for a several minutes sending black smoke billowing out of the building.

Firefighters pulled the driver out of the vehicle and extinguished the smoldering fire.

Tattoo artist Julia Abraham was working inside the store when the car crashed through the glass.

“We were just standing in the back room when we heard a loud boom, sounded like an earthquake and we felt the energy and we looked up and saw there was a car that had driven through the window,” she said. “It was getting really smoky, we thought the car was going to explode.”

The driver was taken to a local hospital to be checked out. Officials have not yet released a cause for the crash.

No other injuries were reported.
