Driver shoots, kills panhandler during fight outside Thurston Co. McDonald's, officials say
GRAND MOUND, Wash. – Authorities say a man was shot and killed Tuesday while he was panhandling in Thurston County.
The shooting happened around 5:45 p.m. outside a McDonald's restaurant in Grand Mound, a town about 20 miles south of Olympia.
The Thurston County Sheriff's Office says the man approached a driver outside of the restaurant, and the two got into an argument. The sheriff's office says the argument escalated into a physical altercation and the driver shot the man.
The driver, a 59-year-old man from Rochester, was taken into custody.
