Drivers rejoice: South Park Bridge open to traffic
SEATTLE -- The South Park Bridge in King County officially opened to traffic Monday morning.
The original bridge closed four years ago. Two lanes opened on the new bridge Monday, and last-minute work was still being done on the sides of bridge.
And it wasn't just drivers who were happy. A local coffee stand owner says he looks forward to the increased traffic.
"I'm going to try and extend my hours," said Freddy Solis, a coffee stand owner situated near the bridge. "I'm going to go a little bit earlier so I can catch all the morning Boeing traffic and all the regular traffic. I'll extend my afternoon hours, too."
All work was expected to be complete on the bridge soon.
